Bighelp Bay Area 4th Annual S.T.E.A.M Event 2016

Art Contest

Bighelp Art Contest is open to all children of 5 to 16 years old.

Prepare your art work at home and bring it to the event to enter the contest.

Each child can submit only one entry.

Theme of the art: Art work should contain one of the following themes to be able to compete in the contest.

  • Level 1 - KG to Gr 1: Garden.

  • Level 2 - Gr 2 to Gr 3: Animals in their Habitat

  • Level 3 - Gr 4 to Gr 5: Patriotism

  • Level 4 - Gr 6 to Gr 8: BigHelp theme (any program at Bighelp or helping with child education India)

  • Level 5 - Gr 9 to Gr 12: Indian Culture

Art Material & Techniques: Please note the following rules regarding art material and techniques:

  • The size of the drawing sheet should be 12" x 16" (This is the maximum size limit; you can prepare a smaller size if you like. Any entry with larger than this size will NOT be accepted)

  • Art should have a Caption or Slogan.

  • Completed portfolios must not exceed one page in length.

  • Art materials may include water color paints, acrylic paints, pastels, crayons and color pencils.

  • All artwork must be the contestant's original, hand-done creation.

  • Photographs, computer-generated artwork and pre-printed sketch/tracing will not be accepted.

  • Do not make the design look like a stamp. No stencils, stickers, numbers or design elements are allowed.

  • Keep the design simple. The image will be reduced to a smaller size to display in Bighelp website.

Judging Criteria: Judging will be done by 2 or more independent judges using following criteria :

  • Beauty and appeal (Color scheme & affect) - 10 points

  • Skill (includes neatness & quality) - 10 points

  • Theme or Inherent Meaning (may be based on the write up) - 10 points

  • Uniqueness and interpretation of the theme - 10 points

  • Slogan/Caption - 2 points (No slogan = 0, Slogan is present but not appealing = 1, Appealing & appropriate slogan = 2)

Prizes: All winning artists will receive a certificate and trophy on the stage.

  • Based on the number of entries, organizers will group the entries in to multiple levels based on the participant's grade. Each level will have 3 prizes (1st, 2nd & 3rd)

  • Special Needs Category: There will be a special needs category if at least one entry is received from special needs children. Please mention at the registration desk if the entry should be considered under special needs category.

Additional info: Please note the following when submitting your art work

  • Do not write your name or signature on the front of the art. Write your full name in capital letters, age, address and phone number on the back of the art. Entries with signature or name on the front of the art will be rejected.

  • If your artwork is part of a classroom project, please inform at registration desk so that it can be handled carefully.

  • Submit art work at the Art & Rangoli Registration desk.

  • Late entries submitted after completion of the 1st stage program may not be qualified for winning prize.

  • At the end of the event, art of work can be collected back at the registration desk. All uncollected art work will be discarded.

  • Make sure your art is photographed if you are one of the winner.
