What are the goals of Bighelp For Education?
The goal of Bighelp is to ensure the quality of education reaches every child regardless of gender, class, race, religion and disability in India.
How do you achieve these goals?
Bighelp achieve its goals by directly funding the poor children's education, strengthening the government schools, providing merit scholarships and closely working with volunteers to encourage children to continue their education.
How does Bighelp raise funds?
Bighelp is initially funded by all of its founders which enabled to start many pilot projects in India. Bighelp approaches friends, volunteers and corporations for collecting donations to sponsor future projects. Bighelp strongly believes that any charity should be able to independently generate some funds ( in addition to all donations) to be able to grow, increase the spending capacity, survive longer period and serve the intended cause for long term in better way. Having this belief, Bighelp has associated with many major online shops to sell their products and get referral bonus on all sales made through the links provided in Bighelp Biz
Do you have office in India?
Yes. We have an office and volunteer network in both USA and India to mobilize the funds as well as work closely with schools and children.

Does Bighelp confined to rural areas only?
Currently our plans are confined to rural areas only. However, we are having future plan to help the children in urban areas too.
Does Bighelp support other volunteer organizations that are already working on literacy projects?
Yes. We closely work with other volunteer organizations that are currently working with under privileged children. However, we do not fund any organizations.
Does Bighelp actually do the training for the children?
No. Bighelp do not want to duplicate the efforts of government. It strive to improve the quality of education in government provided schools, fund the children to go to school and work with school to ensure the minimum facilities are provided to the children. wherever necessary, Bighelp provides qualified paid volunteers to teach in Government schools.
Does Bighelp fund the regular schools and non-formal education including women and adult education?
Currently Bighelp fund only formal Education.
How do you ensure that the funds sent are properly utilized?
The network is designed in such a way that no scope is left to misuse our funds at any level. Proper auditing, supervising and verification methods were implemented at all levels to ensure proper utilization of funds.
What is the criteria for a child being qualified for getting an aid from Bighelp?
We select the children based on their financial status. We filter them based on their past performance, attendance and recommendations from school teachers and head master. We also talk to the parents or guardian of the children to asses their need.
How do you identify the child who needs support for their education?
Our project director and group of volunteers make visits to the selected village, talk to the school teachers, village community and other volunteer organizations before selecting the children who qualify our criteria.
How long does it take a child to start receiving the fund once he/she is identified?
It takes approximately two months to start funding the child after we identify them as eligible to receive the aid from Bighelp.
How do you monitor the child's progress that is getting the aid from Bighelp?
Bighelp has designated volunteers and project director assigned to each project to monitor the progress of the children. Project meetings will be organized every month.
How should be child's performance to be able to continue getting the aid from Bighelp?
We evaluate child's performance once in quarter. We expect a child to have 90% of attendance in school, get minimum 50% of marks in all exams and provide the report on her/his self development.
What are other responsibilities of children in addition to getting good grades?
We encourage children in between 8th to 10th standard to organize evening literacy programs to educate their siblings, parents and fellow villagers. This responsibility is optional.
How many days/months/years child will continue getting the aid from Bighelp?
If a child continue to meet the criteria, we sponsor their education for a minimum of one year. At the end of the year we perform an annual review before deciding to sponsor their education for next year (based on the funds availability)..
Till what standard Bighelp will provide the aid if child continue to satisfy the norms?
10th standard.
What is the time required to get a child to start receiving the aid since the time a donor is ready to sponsor a child?
3 months.
Do you have any special recognition to volunteers or donors that support Bighelp projects?
Yes. Bighelp honor volunteers and donors based on their dedication, length & quality of service and amount donated. Three different programs (Silver, Gold & Platinum) were setup to honor donors and volunteers.
How can I make the difference?
You can donate, volunteer or refer Bighelp to all your friends asking them to support one or more services provided by Bighelp.
Can I get the details of children who is getting sponsored by my donations?
Yes. We display the details of the children in our website when we assign your pledged money to the children. Please click here to get the details of children being sponsored by different donors though Bighelp.
What do you do in case a donor discontinues their donations and child continues to meet the requirement?
We will continue to sponsor the children for one year with our reserve funds and look for another donor to sponsor the same kid.
