Zilla Parishad High School at Singarayapalem villageTelangana, India serves 445students in and around the Singarayapalem village. Most of these children are from socio and economically backward families and travel to school on bicycles from surrounding villages around 9 kilometers away. They park their bicycles in an open area without any shade exposing them to the hot sun. These bicycles get damaged during the sunny days when they get exposed to more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit temperature. Some children are reluctant to come to school during sunny days to prevent their bicycles from being damaged. It discourages parents to send their children to school every time they spend money to repair their bicycles damaged due to the sun. Hence the school headmaster approached Bighelp with a proposal to construct a shed for parking the bicycles and provide shade to the bicycles. Bighelps volunteers visited the school, reviewed the proposal and determined the need for having a shed for parking the bicycles at this school.
